Eso Can You Have a Food and Drink Buff at the Same Time
Buffs are temporary boosts or drains on the role player'southward stats and abilities. They tin can be achieved past consuming various foods and drinks, or from monster attacks.
Combining Buffs
In general, buffs exercise not stack, only instead replace whatsoever previous buffs. More specifically, buffs from exactly one nutrient and one drink can be active at a given time. In that location are some special-effect buffs that are handled separately as described below.[i] Eating a food with buffs will wipe out whatever buffs from previously-eaten food (but not buffs from a previous drink); one drink'south buffs will replace any previous beverage's buffs, simply have no effect on existing food buffs. Foods or drinks that have no buffs (but restore Health and Energy) tin be safely consumed without any effect on agile buffs.
But 3 buffs, namely Luck, Speed, and Max Energy, are available from both food and drink and can therefore be stacked:
- +1 Speed from Coffee or Triple Shot Espresso can be added to the +1 Speed from a food.
- +30 Max Energy from Green Tea can be added to the +30 to +50 Max Free energy from a food.
- +ane Luck from Ginger Ale can be added to the +ane, +three, or +5 Luck from a food.
Special-effect and negative buffs ("debuffs") are each handled individually, independently of standard food- and potable-derived buffs: merely 1 case of each of these buffs can be active, and they are unaffected past other types of buffs. The special-effect buffs are "Adrenaline Rush", "Oil of Garlic", "Squid Ink Ravioli Buff", "Warrior Energy" and "Yoba'due south Blessing"; the negative buffs are "Burnt", "Darkness", "Frozen", "Jinxed", "Nauseated", "Slimed", "Tipsy" and "Weakness".
For instance, drinking an alcoholic potable makes the player "Tipsy". Drinking some other alcoholic beverage replaces the commencement "Tipsy" issue with a new 1 (the magnitude remains -1 speed, but the duration is reset). Consuming any other drink or food (including ones with buffs) will not remove the "Tipsy" consequence -- at all-time, +1 Speed buff (e.yard., from Coffee) tin be used to annul the -i Speed.
Buff Elapsing
Buff durations are specified on the wiki and in-game using real-time minutes and seconds.
Buffs volition break while the game is paused, but they volition not pause otherwise fifty-fifty if time is paused (e.g., playing the line-fishing minigame in singleplayer mode will still event in any buff durations standing even though time is paused).
Typically, 43 real-time seconds are equivalent to 1 game hour. (7 existent-time minutes are 10 game hours.)
However, time in Skull Cave runs more slowly: ane game 60 minutes lasts 54 real-fourth dimension seconds. (Except in multiplayer games and on Prehistoric Floors, which revert to 43-2nd hours). So one cup of Coffee, that commonly would last for two hours, will simply last for one and a one-half hours in Skull Cave.
All buffs are cleared once the player sleeps.
Preventing negative buffs
Amnesty and Squid Ink Ravioli mitigate or prevent the application of negative buffs to the player. The Slime Charmer Ring prevents the Slimed outcome in particular from being applied. The Sturdy Band cuts the duration of negative effects that are applied to the player in half.
